[edit] Step 1: Download JTablet

First, download the installation file for JTablet, which may be found on the official SketchStudio website. To download the file, right click on "Download Now" and select "Save Target As" or "Save Link As". A window will pop up asking where you want to save it.

Click the Desktop button on the left or select "Desktop" from the dropdown list at the top. This will make it easier when you go to run the installer. Once you've selected Desktop, click the Save button in the bottom right. Your web browser will now display a download progress window.

[edit] Step 2: Run the Installer

Once the installation file is done downloading, the download progress window will most likely ask if you want to open the file. Do so. If you are not asked whether you want to want to open the file, minimize all programs you're currently running so you can see the desktop. Locate the installation file's icon. It will look like this:

Double-click on it to run the installation program.

[edit] Step 3: Complete the Installation

When you run the installer, this window will pop up:

Everything should be smooth sailing from here on out. Don't worry about the directories and options that the installer asks you about. The default settings are fine. Simply click "Next" a few times, and that button will turn into "Install". Click that. After installation is completed, "Install" will be replaced by "Finish". Click that. Installation is complete, but don't start celebrating yet; the last step is making sure it works.

[edit] Step 4: Test It Out

Now that you have JTablet installed, you probably shouldn't have to restart your browser for it to work, but you might want to just in case. Once you bring the browser window back up, start a new drawing on 2draw in either Lascaux Sketch or Oekaki-Shi Painter. Pressure sensitivity is not enabled by default. There are two ways you can use tablet sensitivity: it can give you a dynamic brush size, or a dynamic brush opacity.

Additionally, you can test to see whether JTablet itself is working by using the test applet at the Sketchstudio website.

[edit] Enabling Pressure Sensitivity in Lascaux Sketch

In Lascaux, the pressure sensitivity buttons are in very the bottom right of the applet, as seen here:

Simply enable either one by clicking on it. For dynamic brush size, the largest size you can make will be the default size (in the brush preview box) and the smallest size is 1 pixel. The harder you push, the closer to the default size the brush will be.

Note that the dynamic flow does not always work correctly with Anti-Alias enabled. Simply disable Anti-Alias to fix this.

[edit] Enabling Pressure Sensitivity in Oekaki-Shi Painter

In Oekaki-Shi, the pressure sensitivity buttons can be accessed via the "P" button in the top right corner of the drawing window, as seen here:

The small panel to the right of the circled "P" button contains the two pressure sensitivity options, dynamic opacity and dynamic size. In Oekaki-Shi, if dynamic size is enabled then the minimum and maximum brush sizes are always constant regardless of what you set as the default brush size.

[edit] Tablet PCs

For Tablet PCs, you may need to first install the Wacom Penabled driver for JTablet to recognize your tablet. This also gives you a couple extra options on customizing how your tablet works on your Tablet PC.

[edit] Microsoft Windows Vista

Some people have reported that UAC prevents JTablet from functioning (unclear if this is caused by installing or using JTablet). If you have trouble with JTablet, consider disabling UAC. (Microsoft's information on disabling UAC)

In Vista, one possible problem is that the start of every stroke you make is choppy. This may be caused by pen flicks and "tap-and-hold." You can disable these in the Control Panel in "Pen and Input Devices."
